UL certification is an abbreviation for Underwriter's Laboratories Certification. It is the most authoritative private institution in the United States and the largest private institution engaged in safety testing and appraisal in the world. It is an independent, for-profit professional institution that conducts tests for public safety.
It uses scientific testing methods to study and determine whether various materials, devices, products, equipment, buildings, etc. are harmful to life and property and the extent of harm;
Determine, prepare and issue corresponding standards and materials that can help reduce and prevent loss of life and property, and conduct fact finding business.
UL certification is a non mandatory certification in the United States, mainly for testing and certification of product safety performance, and its certification scope does not include EMC (electromagnetic compatibility) characteristics of products.
UL was founded in 1894 and became a self-supporting certification body in 1916. At the beginning, UL was funded by the government fire insurance department. After a century of development, UL is now a world-renowned certification agency. It has a set of strict organization and management system. Standard development and product certification procedures. The certification marks are mainly divided into 13 categories.

1. UL listing mark: This is a common mark in UL certification. Most products will obtain such marks when applying for UL certification. If such mark is added to the product, it indicates that the product complies with UL standard.
2. C-UL mark: Most products are exported to Canada, and the products must be evaluated according to Canada's safety requirements. (Note: Canada's product safety requirements are different from those of the United States, and another safety certification is required for products exported to Canada.
3. C-ULUS marks: These marks were introduced in early 1998, representing that the products meet the common requirements of the United States and Canada for products to be selected in the United States and Canada.
4. Grading mark: This mark only appears on the products evaluated by UL, and UL will grade the products according to the specific conditions and hazard range of the products.
5. C-UL mark: This is similar to the classification mark. It is a product sold in the Canadian market.
6. Approved part mark: ordinary consumers rarely see this certification mark, which is mainly used for parts. These components will form larger product or system components. Parts sold in Canada are marked with a letter C, i.e. UL quarterly part certification mark.
7. Marking of parts in the United States and Canada: This is a new UL identification part marking, which came into effect on April 1, 1998. It can be used to collect evidence according to the requirements of Canada and the United States.
8. EMC mark: if the product has ULEMC certification mark, it means that the product meets the requirements of the European Union, the United States, Japan, Australia and other countries on electromagnetic compatibility.
9. EPH mark: The EPH mark represents that the product has been evaluated according to the Environmental and Public Health Standards and meets other food hygiene scope and requirements.
10. Blue health mark: it is a supplement to the grading mark and can be selected.
11. On site evaluation sign: It is a sign used to evaluate manufacturers on the site or not in the UL laboratory at UL, commonly known as factory inspection.
12. Management system registration mark: The UL registered company mark cannot be seen on the product. Its significance is that the facility has passed UL's assessment according to the management system standards. By allowing UL to evaluate its management system procedures, it can be used to improve the company's image and become part of the company's marketing strategy.

The federal, state, county and municipal governments of the United States have 40000 administrative districts, each of which recognizes UL certification.
